Justine Ross
President
Justine Ross has led Murdoch University Volleyball Club (MUVC) since 2022, serving as both President and player. She has been instrumental in building a supportive and inclusive club culture, focused on development, community, and long-term sustainability.
Justine is a Level 3 accredited volleyball coach and has actively supported the growth of both new and experienced coaches each season. In 2023, she recruited MUVC’s current head coaches, Laura Mocca and Emanuele Nagliati, both with over 30 years of international coaching experience.
Academically, Justine holds degrees in Law and Science (Anthropology), a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration, and a Master of Teaching (Secondary). She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Maritime Archaeology at Flinders University.
Known for her commitment to her members, Justine makes an effort to know every team and player personally, and advocates strongly for their wellbeing—working to make MUVC not just a club, but a family.
Riya Gerelt-Od
Treasurer
Riya joined the MUVC committee in 2025 and has been instrumental in strengthening the club’s financial systems. As Treasurer, she has configured budgets, introduced Afterpay as a payment option, and streamlined fee collection—ensuring the club remains accessible and financially sustainable.
With over 11 years of playing experience, Riya is a skilled and versatile outside hitter who brings both strength and leadership to the court. This season, she’s playing in Division 1 to support the development of the ladies' team pushing for promotion to the State League Reserve division—demonstrating her dedication to the club’s growth.
Off the court, Riya works in commercial real estate and is known affectionately at MUVC as “Ace’s mum.” Her commitment, professionalism, and team-first attitude make her an invaluable part of both the committee and the wider MUVC community.
Laura Mocca
Head Coach - Ladies' & Division 1 Reserve Men's Coach
Laura, our Head Coach for Ladies' teams and our Division 1 Reserve Men's Team, is an internationally accredited coach with 29 years experience. She is also a coach and co-founder at the outdoor beach volleyball venue, The Hub.
Laura is a passionate coach who can regularly be heard telling players to “Never give up!”. A philosophy she lives by is to always love what you do, work hard and have as much fun as you can.
Aside from a love of volleyball, Laura is also a big lover of her dog, Thor. Who regularly accompanies her and Manu to The Hub as a mascot.
Emanuele Nagliati
Head Coach - Men's & Division 1 Men's Coach
Our Division 1 Men’s Team is lead by Manu; an internationally accredited coach with 29 years of experience training volleyball players.
Manu is a passionate coach who believes in learning from your own mistakes and can always be heard reminding his players to “BE SMART!” Manu is lucky to be supported on the side-lines (and in life) by his wife; Laura.
Manu and Laura’s wedding guests comprised of more volleyball playing friends than relatives. Together they form an integral part of our volleyball community, having co-founded The Hub and sitting on many committees.
